About

Unbiased Katie, also known as Journalist Katie, is an internet troll who started on Twitter and Discord after creating the Feminists Against Trolls server and her Twitter account in mid-2020. Unbiased Katie poses as an alt-left activist for feminist and LGBTQ+ causes by creating infographics that make aggressively alt-left statements as a form of satire. Her infographics and tweets caused outrage in alt-right circles online, where screenshots of them were used by the community to defend claims of the alt-left being nonsensical or irrational. Unbiased Katie is also known on YouTube, where she has a channel and has appeared in multiple voice interviews with other YouTubers.

Online History

Unbiased Katie began posting to Twitter in May 2020. She gained most of her original following by passionately replying to larger, alt-right and alt-left Twitter accounts to gain attention for her page. Most of these original tweets are lost, however, because her original Twitter[1] account, @KatieUnbiased, was deleted in early November 2021. However, she created a backup Twitter[2] account, @Unbiased_Katie, in January 2021 and started using it as her primary account in November 2021.

Unbiased Katie received an increased amount of attention in August 2020 when a screenshot of an article she'd written called, "Dear Men: Stop Working Out," started circulating on Twitter[3] and Instagram,[4] which was criticized by alt-right accounts who didn't see the article as satire and instead viewed it as proof that alt-left feminists were nonsensical and irrational. For example, the anti-feminist Instagram[5] page @nobodyneedsfeminism posted a screenshot of the article (shown below) on August 9th, 2020, and received roughly 2,600 likes over the course of a year and a half.

From this attention, Unbiased Katie funneled the outrage clicks to her YouTube[11] channel, where a video[12] she uploaded on August 22nd, 2020, gained roughly 20,800 views over the course of a year and a half. The video (shown below) is titled, "In Memory Of My Dog Cornelius," and has a description that reads, "A tribute video to my dog, Corny. I put him in the Dog Pound last week after I discovered that he had chewed up my pride flag."

A screenshot of a Twitter thread between Katie and another user received reposts on Instagram[6] at the end of August 2020. The screenshot (shown below, left) related to her stealing a packaged ham from a store and burying it in an attempt at vegan activism. On September 2nd, 2020, she uploaded a follow-up YouTube video, detailing the event further. The video (shown below, right) received roughly 59,000 views over the course of one year.

I stole a packaged Ham from the store today & gave it a proper burial. Now the animal's soul can finally be at peace. This could have given a meal to a kid in poverty or a homeless person, not very thoughtful. 1 42 Catie Journalist Katie @UnbiasedKatie Replying to @XVI_Val I would rather let them starve than feed them meat

Going into 2021, Unbiased Katie continued to gain followers on Twitter and new members on her Discord server, Feminists Against Trolls (FAT). In the server, users share infographics and political opinions back and forth, feeding into outrage and righteousness on both sides of the political compass.

More screenshots of her tweets and article headlines kept getting reposted throughout 2021. For instance, on February 22nd, Facebook[7] page, Talk Nerdy To Me, posted a screenshot of a tweet detailing how gamers shouldn't buy or play video games because playing them triggers a chemical in the brain similar to that of committing a murder. The Facebook post (shown below) received 390 reactions in nine months and is the first known Unbiased Katie repost on the platform.

Appearances in YouTube Interviews

As Unbiased Katie received more attention in mid-2021, right-leaning YouTubers began to discuss the ridiculousness of her claims for their own audiences. On April 16th, 2021, YouTuber[8] Snowy Joe uploaded a video titled, "I Destroyed a Radical Feminist…" In the video, Snowy Joe joins a group audio chat on Unbiased Katie's Discord server. The video (shown below) received roughly 361,800 views over the course of seven months.

On September 8th, 2021, YouTuber[9] Travingel uploaded a video titled, "Interviewing Unbiased Katie About Her Twitter." The video (shown below) received roughly 13,600 views over the course of two months.

On November 6th, 2021, YouTuber[10] DJ Peach Cobbler uploaded a video titled, "Feminist for Clout: The Story of "Unbiased Katie." DJ Peach Cobbler outlined in the video how internet users fell for the trolling and detailed how Unbiased Katie is undoubtedly a troll. He even included a clip in his video of Pewdiepie reacting to an Unbiased Katie infographic. The video (shown below) received roughly 129,900 views and 17,000 likes over the course of four days.
