Vanripper, also known as @vanripperart on Twitter, is the name of a Polish online artist known best for creating the 2020 indie puzzle video game Helltaker. He is also responsible for several notable pieces of art prior to creating Helltaker.

History

Vanripper began posting on DeviantArt on March 26th, 2008.[1] His first published piece is fan art of Lal'c from the Ginax show Gunbuster (shown below).

VanRipper first generated significant online attention with an October 23rd, 2013, upload of an animated parody of The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, which depicted a Khajiit trying to open a locked door. The video accumulated over nine million views in 8 years (shown below).



After his success with the Skyrim parody, he continued to upload art on his DeviantArt page before finding viral success with two Flash comics. The first, an adaptation of the fanfic "Like Fine Wine" by Sleepless Brony, depicts the relationship between My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic characters Spike and Rarity (shown below, left). The second was an original creation named “Mosquito Season,” a comic about a person whose apartment has gijinka versions of different insects (shown below, right).

On April 23rd, 2018, he uploaded the first video in a series called “Daystone,” which depicts the adventures of Kocia, a catgirl adventurer. The series is comprised of three episodes (episode 1 shown below).



On May 11th, 2020, Vanripper released the critically acclaimed puzzle game Helltaker on Steam. Vanripper, would continue to create Helltaker-related media, making comic strips of the characters depicting what they were doing before and after the ending of the game (example seen below).

Online Presence

Due to his viral videos, artwork and video games, VanRipper has developed a strong online following. He currently has over 18,000 followers on DeviantArt,[2] 424,000 followers on Twitter[3] and over 311,000 subscribers on YouTube.[4]
