Peppa Pig Hanging Up, also known as Peppa Hangs Up the Phone, Angry Peppa Pig and Peppa Pig Whistle, refers to a scene from the children's television series Peppa Pig. Online, a screen-captured image from the scene is often used as a reaction image.

Origin

The scene originates from an episode titled "Whistling" in the British children's cartoon Peppa Pig, originally aired on September 24th, 2010. In the episode, Peppa is trying to learn to whistle, so she calls her friend. It turns out that her friend knows how to whistle. Peppa silently hangs up on her. On August 21st, 2013, YouTuber Flynn Roetcisoender uploaded a clip of the scene, which gathered more than 3.2 million views and 1,900 comments over the next five years (shown below).

On January 4th, 2015, YouTuber Two Beardy Dorks uploaded Thug Life version of the clip (shown below).

On March 15th, 2018, Twitter user @elzbthx0_ tweeted a clip of scene along with the message "I literally die every time like Peppa was pissed" (shown below). Within two weeks, the video gained over 314,000 likes and 153,000 retweets.


The following day, Twitter user @sohbaigx[1] replied to the tweet with a screencap of Peppa hanging up the phone with the caption "Make this a meme" (shown below, left). Shortly after, Twitter user @staynsee_[2] replied with the screencap along with the caption "Congratulations American Express card holder! You just won a free crui-" (shown below, right).

On March 21st, BuzzFeed[3] published an article titled "People Are Making Memes Of A Pissed-Off Peppa Pig And It Is Too Damn Funny." The following day, a similar article titled "A 'pissed off Peppa Pig' meme is going viral, and it may even be better than Arthur's angry fist" was published on the internet humor site Hello Giggles.[4]
