Polaroid Love is a song by K-pop boy group that grew significantly popular on TikTok in January of 2022. Though not released as a single, the song's success on the platform along with fan-created dance challenges helped it crack the K-pop charts.

Origin

On January 10th, 2022, Enhypen released their album Dimension: Answer with the lead single "Blessed-Cursed."^[1] "Polaroid Love" is the album's tenth track (shown below).

The same day the album was released, TikTok user @reeiner posted a video dancing to the track, gaining 6 million views and 869,000 likes in eighteen days (shown below).

Spread

On January 12th, @reeeiner made the song his sound, gaining over 2.5 million views and 361,000 likes (shown below). The video helped the song begin going viral on TikTok, as 3,500 videos were made using @reeeiner's sound.^[2]

The sound was used primarily for variety content and imitations of @reeeiner's dance. For example, user @dicakoo posted a nail painting video with the sound, gaining over 116,000 likes (shown below, left). User @angela_kimm posted a dance video with the sound, gaining over 63,000 likes (shown below, right).

The success of the song on the platform led members of Enhypen to perform @reeeiner's dance in a TikTok posted on January 19th (shown below). Koreaboo^[3] credited @reeeiner for the song's success on the platform. Popular idols from Kep1er, NCT 127, and fromis_9 have also performed the dance on TikTok.

The song's success on TikTok soon brought it successes on the charts, as it cracked MELON's top 100, a rarity for a b-side.^[4] Enhypen also began releasing promotional videos for the song. A "selfie-cam" video for the track released on January 19th, 2022 gained over 4.3 million views in less than ten days (shown below).
