About

Pompom Tralala, also known as Pom Pom Tralala or Pom Pom Pom Pom Tralalalala, refers to a series of video edit memes, started by the TikTok Niche Community (NicheTok), using a scene from the 2024 animated film Despicable Me 4 in which a male character in a suit, Silas Ramsbottom, sings, "Pom pom pom pom tralalalala," to the tune of "Everybody Wants To Rule The World" by Tears For Fears. The scene became an exploitable video element in late 2025, when the scene was over-edited with CapCut filters and effects, similar to other brainrot trends. The meme's use of "Tralala" mirrored the Tralalero Tralala meme from Italian Brainrot.

Origin

On July 3rd, 2024, the animated film Despicable Me 4, a part of the Despicable Me film franchise, was released in American theaters.[1] In one scene, the protagonist, Gru, is seen singing a parody of "Everybody Wants To Rule The World" by Tears For Fears.[3] At one point, the character Silas Ramsbottom is seen in the Anti-Villain League (AVL) headquarters, singing along to the performance with the onomatopoeia, "Pom pom pom pom tralalalala."[2]

On June 30th, 2025, TikToker[4] @the_rainbow_connection shared the movie clip, adding a caption reading, Bro is NOT Captain Underpants," referring to the children's book and film character and his catchphrase "Tra-la-la!"[5] Over four months, the video received over 9,100 likes, and is currently the first known memetic use of the Despicable Me 4 scene.
