On November 27th, 2024, American musician Kirk Franklin posted a TikTok[1] video eating a green apple and talking about "giving thanks." The video gathered over 7 million plays and 800,000 likes in 10 months.

The video soon became a way for people to joke about being smug or performative, as seen in a video by TikToker[2] @mypryme that read, "How 🥷🏾s start moving when the earthly huzz with locks is watching." The video gathered over 70,000 plays and 300,000 likes in nine months.
