POV: You're a Small-Time Criminal refers to a series of threads on X / Twitter created by the user @TeeCeeComics that imagine the experience of a small-time criminal launching his career in cities guarded by superheroes. The threads were created and went viral on X in late May 2024.

Origin

On May 22nd, 2024, X^[1] user @TeeCeeComics created a POV thread imagining a small-time criminal attempting to launch a career in New York City in the Marvel Comics universe. The opening post of the thread garnered over 2,000 reposts and 20,000 likes in one week (shown below).

Spread

In the May 22nd, 2024, thread, the criminal's attempts to commit crimes are constantly thwarted by Marvel superheroes, with the protagonist constantly finding himself in the hospital, and, after being duped by Mephisto, trapped in Hell (example posts shown below).

Following the success of the original thread, @TeeCeeComics launched five similar threads in the following days, imagining a criminal attempting to launch a career in Marvel and DC Comics cities, including Gotham City,^[2] Metropolis^[3] and Central City^[4] (examples seen below).

The threads went viral on X / Twitter over the following days. For example, the Gotham City thread on May 23rd gained over 2,300 reposts and 29,000 likes in five days, while the Metropolis thread on May 25th garnered over 770 reposts and 10,000 likes in three days.

The threads additionally received further spread online through reposts on other sites.
