Salad Woman is a character in The Grubverse, referring to a fictional fandom surrounding various characters depicted in the Grubhub Delivery Dance Ad that went viral in 2020. The fandom, which is ironic in nature, began adding seemingly random lore centered on a vaguely described "Grub War" that supposedly takes place either before, during or after the events of the advertisement.

While the character and Grubverse primarily trended online around the ad's release, reignited interest in both appeared in the mid-2020s and is largely attributed to the TikTok account @saladwomanfanpage, as many TikTok users became bewildered at the account's dedication to the bit even half a decade later.

Origin

On November 16th, 2020, Grubhub uploaded a now-deleted 3D-animated commercial titled "Delivery Dance" to YouTube. The video, part of a series of related advertisements, featured a montage of several people dancing to Bomba Estéreo's "Soy Yo" while eating various foods.

A compilation of the animated Grubhub ads, posted to YouTube^[1] by user @ryanindo8567 on January 20th, 2021, is still available. The video received over 258,000 views in about five and a half years.

The advertisement and subsequent follow-up ads were massively derided across various social media platforms, with several posts in which users expressed their dislike for the commercial beginning to appear starting in late December 2020.^[13]

On January 5th, 2021, Redditor DoggedMeerkat76 posted an Iceberg Tier Parody meme to the /r/CommercialsIHate^[2] subreddit that was widely circulated online in the following days.^[10] The video soon became a prominent source material for edits and analysis videos.

Sometime in 2021, the TikTok^[3] account @saladwomanfanpage was created, with the first video being posted^[4] on January 17th, 2021.

Though the video itself did not receive much traction, the comment section, as of June 2026, prominently features TikTok users who have only just become aware of the Salad Woman account commenting on its years-long dedication to the bit with both awe and concern.

The account continued posting videos discussing the "lore" of Salad Woman and the other Grubverse characters with little fanfare, as the ad and its surrounding memehood had already become irrelevant to broader audiences.

On November 21st, 2024, TikTok^[5] user @saladwomanfanpage, now nearly four years into the bit as of June 2026, posted a tribute video passionately declaring their love for Salad Woman, calling her their ultimate comfort character. The video received over 2.6 million views and 396,000 likes in about a year and a half.

Once again, most of the commentary featured in the video's comment section is concerned with the account's dedication to the Grubhub ad, which was largely irrelevant by 2024.

On July 22nd, 2025, TikTok^[6] user @saladwomanfanpage posted a satirical video joking about being so obsessed with the Salad Woman character from the Grubhub ad that it necessitated mental health intervention. The video received over 1.4 million views and 161,400 likes in almost 11 months.

The perceived "insane" dedication to the joke and character upheld by the account began to draw TikTok users toward it in 2026, subsequently reviving the Grubhub "fandom."

On April 30th, 2026, TikTok^[7] user @saladwomanfanpage uploaded a jokingly complex analysis breaking down the use of colors in the original Grubhub Delivery Dance ad and how they represent character personalities and story arcs in the Grubverse. The video received over 1.2 million views and 153,300 likes in almost two months.

Once again, comments reflect a general sentiment of "please stop," with the now-added sentiment of "please never stop."

As more users got in on the joke, anime fandom-inspired discussions surrounding the powerscaling of characters, particularly Salad Woman, became prominent amid the Grubverse discourse.

On May 18th, 2026, TikTok^[8] user @ishaankaushal_ leaned fully into the absurdity of the Grubverse lore, discussing the full extent of Salad Woman's power, stating that the character is a good example of what it means to be the most powerful character. The video received about 466,000 views and 74,600 likes in about three weeks.

Videos discussing the supposed "lore" of the Grubverse and its characters typically explore themes of trauma and betrayal, humorously juxtaposed against the monotony of the content featured in the actual ad.

On May 19th, 2026, TikTok^[9] user @saladwomanfanpage posted a video discussing the many struggles and hardships Salad Woman has endured throughout the Grubverse lore and during the Grub War. The video received over 451,400 views and 107,100 likes in almost two weeks.

On May 20th, 2026, TikTok^[10] user @ishaankaushal_ replied to a comment on his previous video, further expanding on the Grubverse lore to defend Salad Woman’s superiority, arguing using in-universe logic that Salad Woman is more powerful than Goku from Dragon Ball. The video received over 328,500 views and 58,900 likes in almost two weeks.

On May 23rd, 2026, TikTok^[11] user @sushiwoman6 (a fan account for another Grubverse character) posted a video addressing Sushi Woman’s betrayal of Salad Woman during the Grub War and defending her as a complex character. The video received over 127,800 views and 26,300 likes in almost two weeks.

On May 29th, 2026, TikTok^[12] user @saladwomanfanpage addressed the “drama” happening within the Grubhub fandom, commenting on recent beef between fan accounts like Toast Baby and Burger Child. The video received over 525,700 views and 72,400 likes in almost one week.
