School Rumble Ending Credits Parodies are MAD remixes featuring the ending theme song and animation from the first season of the 2004 anime series School Rumble. Over the years on YouTube and Nico Nico Douga, the animation has been edited and reanimated to feature characters from other series in various remixes and parodies online.

Origin

School Rumble is a 2004 anime series directed by Shinji Takamatsu and produced by Studio Comet based on the manga of the same name by Jin Kobayashi.[1] The series premiered on October 5th, 2004. On July 23rd, 2009, the ending theme "Onna no Ko Otoko no Ko" (jap. オンナのコ♡オトコのコ), performed by Yuko Ogura, was uploaded, gaining over 710 thousand views on YouTube[2] in fourteen years (ending credits shown below).

The earliest known MAD remix of the credits, featuring characters from Tokimeki Memorial Girl's Side: 2nd Kiss, was uploaded by Nico Nico Douga[3] user afuji on January 27th, 2008, gaining over 35,100 views on the site in 15 years (shown below).

Spread

On August 28, 2020, Twitter[4] user pantygnomes made a MAD remix of "Onna no Ko Otoko no Ko" featuring South Park characters (reupload shown below). The post gained over 5,200 retweets and 12,400 likes in three years, with a September 12th, 2020, YouTube[5] reupload gaining over 2 million views prior to deletion.

The format achieved more prominence on YouTube in the spring of 2021. On March 27th, 2021, YouTuber[6] Keksi posted a Neon Genesis Evangelion version of the meme, gaining over 17,000 views in two years (shown below, left). On April 9th, 2021, YouTuber[7] tai toydrill posted a Total Drama version that gained over 41,000 views in two years (shown below, right).

As of July 2023, there are over 30 School Rumble remixes on Nico Nico Douga and YouTube.
