Screaming, Crying, Throwing Up is a phrase generally associated with stan culture, and is used to express excitement over an exciting announcement, photograph or video.

Origin

While the phrase was largely adopted by stan culture in the 2020s, early examples can be seen in the mid-2010s. One of the earliest-known extant examples was posted on January 30th, 2014 by Twitter user @solonglibby,^[1] who used it to excitedly comment on a sticker they'd gotten for their Macbook (shown below).

Spread

The phrase saw increased usage in stan culture starting in late 2020 and early 2021. It appears that it began growing popular within the BTS fandom. On December 24th, 2020, Twitter user @clumsyvirgo^[2] posted it in reference to receiving a photocard for a BTS member (shown below, left). On January 29th, 2021, user @introburnit^[3] posted it in reference to a fan cam for a BTS member (shown below, right).

On January 9th, 2023, Urban Dictionary user taylana<3 posted a definition for the term^[4] (shown below).
