Sections of Soju, also known as This Tastes Like Juice, refers to a series of Sections of a Joint memes about the Korean alcoholic drink soju. The top and middle sections of the meme usually convey that the person consuming the bottle is not feeling like they're getting drunk, with the bottom section revealing that are in fact very drunk. With the original version posted in 2021, the format achieved widespread recognition in 2024 and 2025 as multiple memes based on it were shared on X / Twitter, Tumblr and other social media.

Origin

Prior to April 27th, 2021, an unknown user posted a Sections of a Joint meme based on the Korean alcoholic drink soju. The meme split the bottle into two sections, with the first part captioned "damn, this tastes like juice" and the bottom paired with a black square indicating a drunk blackout. While the original post could not be discovered, on April 27th, iFunny^[1] user vergil made the earliest found repost (shown below).

Spread

Several viral reposts of the image followed in 2021, including an August 22nd, 2021, repost by the Facebook^[2] page Asians Never Die and a December 12th repost by X^[3] user @ReallyHotBitch. The latter garnered over 12,000 reposts and 74,000 likes in four years.

On July 31st, 2023, iFunny^[4] user MatsuokaKou posted a remade version of the meme that used larger font.

In February 2024, the format achieved initial popularity as a meme format with an updated version of the template that used three sections, with the bottom part serving as a punchline proving that the person drinking soju got drunk off it.

For example, on February 10th, 2024, X^[5] user @GIRLS4KAI posted a K-pop meme based on the format that received over 3,800 reposts and 10,000 likes in one year (shown below).

On April 20th, 2024, iFunny^[6] user posted a version of the meme that received over 6,500 smiles in one year and saw viral spread through reposts (shown below).

Memes implying that drinking soju could make someone extremely horny gained particular association with the format.

For example, on January 10th, 2025, X^[7] user @JTwusky posted one such meme that gained over 2,800 reposts and 19,000 likes in two months.
