See You Later, Virgins are greentext stories featuring humorous anecdotes about having indirect contact with women, ending with variations of the line "see you later, virgins." On 4chan, the stories are frequently accompanied by illustrations of Pepe the Frog wearing sunglasses.

Origin

On January 4th, 2018, a 4chan user posted a picture of the character Wojak wearing a Chad mask along with the green text ">existing in a timeline that has women" followed by the sentence "See you later, virgins" (shown below). That day, a screenshot of the post was submitted to /r/greentext,^[1] garnering more than 11,200 points (94% upvoted) and 40 comments within one year.

Spread

On April 11th, Redditor Topud submitted a screenshot of a "Later Virgins" story about mouthwash to /r/greentext^[3] (shown below). Prior to being archived, the post gathered more than 1,900 points (95% upvoted).

On January 23rd, 2019, Redditor LG_Shala submitted a story about "neurons" to /r/greentext,^[4] where it accumulated upwards of 41,200 points (92% upvoted) and 200 comments (shown below, left). On February 11th, a joke about gender fluidity was submitted to /r/greentext,^[5] receiving more than 11,400 points (93% upvoted) and 80 comments (shown below, right).
