Show Me Your Insta Next to Your Finsta is a social media game in which participants share a photograph from their main Instagram account juxtaposed with a picture from their "finsta," a portmanteau of the words "fake" and "Insta" referring to secondary accounts used to share more candid content with close friends.
Origin
On August 5th, 2019, Twitter user @literallysofie[1] began the trend by posting two contrasting selfies with the caption, "show me a pic from ur insta next to a pic from ur finsta" (shown below). The tweet gained over 32,700 likes and 2,100 retweets in 10 days.
Spread
On August 5th, 2019, @LadisonMandi[2] responded with two photos and the caption, "Duality of man" (shown below, left). The tweet gained over 1,400 likes and 100 retweets in 10 days. The next day, @literallysofie gathered more responses. For example, @whoisluka[3] responded with photos of "The truth" which garnered over 2,100 likes and 150 retweets in nine days. On August 9th, Twitter users began posting "show me your insta next to your finsta" posts separately from @literallysofie's post like @angelicaabiebzz[4] who posted the caption with a good-looking versus bad-looking cake (shown below, right).
