About

Sigo Vivo Cabrones, also known as Se Van A Morir Cabrones, is a catchphrase used in a series of memes based on the popular Spanish saying "sigo vivo cabrones," which translates to "still alive, bastards." The phrase was captioned alongside a pixelated image of the streamer Pixi Payasita and became popularized in September 2022, with a deep voice effect saying "sigo vivo cabrones" on TikTok first spreading in memes as a reaction, and later seeing use as a source material for recaptions and remakes.

Origin

The exact first appearance of the meme is unclear, but one of the first examples was posted on July 16th, 2021, by YouTuber @tobiposting5918.[1] In the video, he uses a pixelated image of the streamer Pixi Payasita[2] and a deep voice sound effect saying "Se Van A Maror Cabrones," which translates to "they are going to die, bastards." The video garnered over 3,500 views and 140 likes in two years (see below).

On September 23rd, 2022, YouTuber @flasher5784[3] posted a new version of the meme changing the caption to "sigo vivo cabrones" ("still alive, bastards" in English), followed by Phonk beats. The video garnered over 50,300 views and 1,800 likes in seven months (seen below).

Spread

The meme became popularized on TikTok in September 2022 when several gaming edits started to use the meme to describe famous video game moments in which a character came back to life.

For instance, on September 16th, TikToker @sky_punck[4] showed a scene from Call Of Duty when the character Ghost is killed and used the sound when Ghost reappeared in another entry in the game's franchise. The video (seen below, left) garnered 1 million plays and 169,000 likes in seven months. Another example posted by @brayan1ttqp[5] shows Marvel's Black Panther in a scene where the main hero seems to be defeated, but resurfaces victorious in the end. The video, uploaded on September 24th, garnered 2.4 million plays and 301,300 likes in seven months (seen below, right).
