"Silly Billy" refers to a song for the Friday Night Funkin' mod Hit Single Real released by modder Churgney Gurgney in April 2024. Following the release, the mod achieved viral popularity in the Friday Night Funkin' community and beyond, inspiring memes, fan animations and other fan labor.

Origin

On April 29th, 2024, Churgney Gurgney, the developer of Hit Single Real mod for Friday Night Funkin' rhythm game, released Silly Billy Update,^[1] adding "Silly Billy", a six-minute song in which Boyfriend fights Yourself, a tall, disheveled and mentally disturbed version of himself from an alternate universe. On that day, Churgney Gurgney uploaded the song to YouTube,^[2] where it accumulated over 5.2 million views in three weeks (shown below). Notably, beating the song unlocks platformer game Garn47.

The last part of the battle features a lyrical segment by Yourself which garnered particular attention in the Friday Night Funkin community. On April 29th, 2024, YouTube^[3] user Maik Moskito uploaded the segment, editing in KSI Floating meme, with the edit gaining over 3.1 million views in three weeks (shown below).

The lyrics are considered a tribute to Divide,^[4][5] a late developer of Sonic.EXE mod for Friday Night Funkin' based on the creepypasta of the same name.

On April 29th, 2024, TikTok^[6][7] users @therealraidar and @vinceisbetterthanyou uploaded the lyrical part, with the videos garnering over 8 million views and 602,000 likes and 2.3 million views and 75,000 likes in three weeks, respectively.

In the following days, the mod achieved viral popularity in the Friday Night Funkin' community, inspiring remixes, edits, fan animations, and other content. For example, on April 30th, 2024, YouTube^[8] user Cloak2005 posted a video titled "Twitter Sings Silly Billy Lyrics" that garnered over 203,000 views in three weeks (shown below, left). Also that day, YouTube^[9] user WARTEIL play posted a Jimmy Neutron Yelling edit that accumulated over 1.3 million views in the same period (shown below, right).

More fan animations and edits of "Silly Billy" were shared by users on TikTok. For example, on May 6th, 2024, TikTok^[10] user @emerald.zone posted a fan animation that garnered over 296,000 views and 37,000 likes in two weeks (shown below, left). On May 16th, 2024, TikTok^[11] user @colethesnepshark2 posted a Young Sheldon edit that received over 1.1 million views and 174,000 likes in five days (shown below, right).
