Overview
Garn47 is a platformer video game developed by Floombo that is unlocked within the Friday Night Funkin' mod Hit Single. The game, which features an absurdist, creepypasta-like style, was added to the mod in late April 2024 and can be played after defeating Silly Billy in a rap battle. Following the game's release, memes and fan content referencing it were popularized online, with one particular character from the game, a cat named Car, inspiring numerous memes. The game was later released as a standalone project on Itch.io.
History
On April 29th, 2024, an update was released on GameBanana[1] for the Friday Night Funkin' mod Hit Single, adding a battle between the player and a character named Silly Billy. After the character is defeated, the player unlocks the game Garn47, an absurdist 3D platforming horror game developed by Floombo. The gameplay involves roaming around a map and finding hidden objects (gameplay shown below).
That day, a video was posted to Floombo's YouTube[2] channel titled "Hit Single Real: Car's Little Song" in which Car, a cat character from Garn47, sings a song, garnering over 384,000 views in two weeks (shown below, left). On April 30th, an official trailer for Garn47 was posted to the Brooklyn !!! YouTube[3] channel, garnering around 5,000 views in the same span of time (shown below, right).
On May 12th, a standalone version of Garn47 was released on Itch.io.[4]
Online Presence
Garn47 became increasingly popular online throughout May 2024, inspiring fan content and memes. The official "Garnipedia" is available on WikiDot.[8]
On May 9th, 2024, YouTuber[5] Bfrafre posted a video walkthrough of Garn47 titled "Garn47 | A Relatively Comprehensive Guide to Brainrot: The Game," garnering over 20,000 views in a week (shown below).
Car the Cat
The game's character Car, a talking cat, became the notable subject of memes and fan art throughout May 2024, with the official @garn47 X account also posting memes about the character. For example, on May 13th, 2024, X[6] user @Garn47 posted a meme that gained over 15,000 likes in four days (shown below, left). On May 15th, X[7] user @StephanieDigits posted art of Car in a go kart, garnering over3,300 likes in two days (shown below, right).
