About
Anything Bot is a Twitter gimmick account that posts a randomly generated combination of a caption describing a certain event and one or more images every 30 minutes. The images are picked from a pool of notable people and characters, while the captions often utilize well-known snowclones and catchphrases, resulting in the bot often generating entertaining memes, similar to ShitpostBot 5000.
History
On August 29th, 2021, Twitter[1] user @whitneywf launched Anything Bot (@TheAnything_Bot), a gimmick account automatically generating random tweets from a pool of available character images and captions. On the same day, the account made its first several tweets,[2] with a tweet[3] about Beavis and Butt-Head gaining over 260 retweets and 1,800 likes (shown below, right).
The account achieved initial success in September 2021 as several of its tweets went viral, with posts about Sonic the Hedgehog characters finding particular virality. For example, on September 18th, Anything Bot posted a randomly generated tweet[4] about Sonic that gained over 2,000 retweets and 13,900 likes in 10 months (shown below, left). On September 22nd, 2021, a tweet[5] about Shadow the Hedgehog received over 6,600 retweets and 45,300 likes in nine months (shown below, right).
The gimmick account again reached a viral status in March 2022 after a high engagement tweet[6] about Princess Peach starting an OnlyFans account gained over 6,800 retweets and 83,700 likes in three months (shown below, left).
Features
Anything Bot posts randomly generated combinations of one or more characters and snowclone captions describing events every 30 minutes. The bot accepts user submissions for characters, foods, places and events to be added to the pool from which they can be selected.[7]
The account description reads, "Posting wacky things about random people, characters and more!"
