UrFaveIsUnfuckable or Ur Fave Is Unfuckable is a gimmick account on Tumblr that posts fan-submitted images of characters from media franchises over either a flag consisting of blue stripes, the "unfuckable" flag, or a flag of red stripes, the "fuckable flag," deeming each character fuckable or unfuckable along with a humorous caption. In January 2022, the page inspired in-fighting in the mod community and heavy criticism from followers and other Tumblr users when the lead mod, Rhys, announced they were minting NFTs, leading to the closure of the page. Since then, a number of copycats and parody pages based on the same or similar gimmick have appeared.

History

In 2021, Tumblr^[1] gimmick account UrFaveIsUnfuckable opened and began posting follower-submitted characters over either a blue-striped or red-striped flag, the former deeming the character "unfuckable" and the latter "fuckable." The page gained a significant following over the year, with a number of their memes being reposted to sites like Reddit^[2] and Instagram^[3] (examples shown below, left and right).

NFT Drama And Page Closure

A drama surrounding the page and an NFT project led to its closure in January 2022, as described in detail by Tumblr^[5] user hyperfixations-and-brainrot. The Tumblr page "urfaveisunfuckable-archive" has archived all relevant posts to the drama.^[8]

On January 4th, 2022, a Tumblr user submitted an ask to the page, "Rhys, promise you’ll never start doing nfts," Rhys being the lead moderator. A moderator, Sunny, answered, writing, "I’m not rhys but i can speak on behalf of the mods here at unfuckable inc and make clear that we do not endorse or support NFTs and will never, ever be producing any" (shown below, left). Another Tumblr user, Bugsquish, reblogged the post (now deleted) and added screenshots of DMs from the page's Discord server where Rhys mentions an interest in NFTs, allegedly after his parents encouraged him to get involved in them due to his artistic talent. The NFT project in question is unrelated to the page and is called "Slime NFTs," which are now inactive but seem to have started in March 2021, leading to accusations of lying.^[7]. A number of mods denied Rhys' involvement in NFTs. After the reblog, another Tumblr user submitted to the page, "ryhs someone is saying that ur gonna make nfts is this true," to which Sunny^[6] replied again, "rhys was going to make nfts at the suggestion of his parents, but didnt actually make them before deciding against it. idk if he decided not too because he felt bad about the environment impact or bc of peer pressure, but nonetheless he stopped" (shown below, right).

Shortly after in early January 2022, people began sending Rhys death threats, many against the NFT project due to the alleged harm NFTs have on the environment. People also determined Rhys had abused someone before. Rhys posted a statement to the page explaining his stance on NFTs, stating he already put $300 into the project and that "the plan was always to get rich as fuck off [the NFTs] and then donate most of the money i made to people in need and to helping the environment." He ended the statement, "if you guys didn’t go 'man i wish i could sell pixel art for 3 thousand dollars' You are lying :/" (shown below). Some users criticized the end of the statement, in particular.^[10]

As users uncovered more about Rhys, one Tumblr user asked if the rumor of Rhys abusing someone is true, to which he responded, writing, "oh shit that’s in there too? wild. anyway the people i have hurt i have worked out with and apologized to so there’s absolutely no need to bring that stuff back here" (shown below, left). Other mods responded to these claims saying they know nothing of the alleged abuse (shown below, right). Alongside this drama, accusations of some of the page mods being ableist also circulated.^[9] People began sending the page and mods, particularly Rhys, death threats.

As the drama continued, in-fighting began in the mod community, involving accusations that mods were deleting some of Rhys' posts to the Tumblr page.^[11] His posts included jokes about the situation. Rhys posted proof of the death threats as some users doubted it.^[12] Rhys posted another statement, saying he has "stopped anything NFT related" and apologized to anyone he's hurt^[13] (shown below).

On January 5th, 2022, "urfaveisunfuckable" became filled with mod in-fighting, including an argument involving two mods fighting anonymously through the page's Q&A feature about one finding a Nazi / dictator horse from My Little Pony hot (shown below).

On January 5th, the mod Sunny made a statement about the drama on their Tumblr page, admitting they lied to defend Rhys and that the drama was too much, leading them all to agree to delete it.^[14] On January 6th, Tumblr^[4] user e-102 posted a video consisting of all the relevant screenshots from the drama in chronological order mixed with reaction memes in an effort to explain the drama, gaining over 35,800 notes in a day (shown below, reuploaded to YouTube).

Reactions & Aftermath

Following urfaveisunfuckable's deletion, a number of parody and copycat accounts^[15] cropped up, as well as memes about the drama and posts explaining it. On January 5th, 2022, for example, a copycat account posted an image of a BAYC character kissing a Lazy Lion NFT over the blue flag, captioned "anybody who makes nfts is extremely unfuckable!," gaining over 1,700 notes in two days (show below).^[16]

On January 6th, Tumblr^[17] user greatlordfluffernutter made a post highlighting the absurdity of the whole situation, gaining over 16,000 notes in a day (shown below).
