Spider-Man Throwing Away Classic Costume and Putting on Black Suit is an three-panel image macro series featuring screenshots from the 2004 superhero film Spider-Man 2 and the 2007 superhero film Spider-Man 3. The first panel features Peter Park holding up his classic Spider-Man costume. The second is a screenshot of Parker walking away from the costume in a garbage can. Finally, the last panel features Parker putting on the black Spider-Man costume. The meme expresses one's desire to stop being good and take on negative personality traits.
Origin
The first and third panels in the meme come from the film Spider-Man 3, which was released on May 4th, 2007 (clip below, left). The second panel is a frame from the film Spider-Man 2, released on June 30th, 2004 (clip below, right).[1][2]
On March 9th, 2020, Twitter [3] user @iginister shared a series of screenshots from the films in which Peter Parker (portrayed by Tobey Maguire) holds up the Spider-Man costume, labeled "Simping", Parker throwing away the costume and Parker putting on the black suit, which is labeled misogyny. The post received more than 34,000 likes and 7,500 retweets in less than one month (shown below).

On March 15th, Redditor[7] YouLostMeThere43 shared the meme on the /r/MemeTemplatesOfficial subreddit, where the image received more than 5,900 points (97% upvoted) and 165 comments in less one week.
The following day, on March 16th, Redditor [5] Avartan92 shared a version of the meme in which the meme references turning on Private Browsing on Google Chrome. The post received more than 21,000 points (98% upvoted) in less than one week (shown below, center).
The following day, Redditor[6] Subham420 posted a variation in the /r/HistoryMemes subreddit about Adolf Hitler. The image received more than 4,100 points (97% upvoted) in less than two days (shown below).
