About

Stop Sign? What Stop Sign? refers to a viral video from a police body cam, recording a traffic stop in Daytona Beach, Florida, in which an older Black man is driving and asks the officer why he was pulled over. Before the cop can respond, the man says, "Stop sign? What stop sign, man?" apparently mishearing what the officer said. The traffic stop occurred in May 2025, and the video was reposted to Instagram, YouTube and TikTok shortly after. It spread as a memetic reference on TikTok primarily, via accuracy reenactments and spamming of the man's catchphrase in comment sections.

Origin

In the video, the officer approaches his vehicle as the man asks, "Can you please tell me why you stopping me?" The cop says, "Yeah, I'm about to," and repeats himself multiple times as the man keeps asking, "Huh?" and "What?" Eventually, the man says, "Stop sign? What stop sign, man?" Over four months, the video received over 2.2 million views and 143,100 likes.
