About

AXAYINC Dog Human Masks is a latex dog muzzle that resembles human attributes.

History

While the Amazon page for the mask does not include a date of release, the earliest review of the masks was published on October 29th, 2018.[1] According to the page, the package comes with one mask, which comes in two styles: one with lipstick and the other with a cigar and beard (examples below). Other variations feature teeth, open mouth grins and buck teeth, but those not available for sale.

Reception

On Amazon, the masks have a 4-star review based on three reviews. Two reviewers gave the masks 5 stars. One wrote, "Hilarious. And actually looks creepy as hell just wearing on the back of your head." Another gave the mask one star, writing "Mask is secured with a single strained of elastic. Dog can shake it off easily."

On June 14th, 2019, Bored Panda[2] published a listicle about the masks, calling them "creepy." That day, The AV Club[3] also featured the masks. They wrote:

Now, as some commenters have noted on Amazon, it sure seems like these masks wouldn’t actually stop your dog from biting anyone, nor does it seem like your dog would be able to breathe while wearing it. This is not a problem. As the product description helpfully explains, there is a breathing hole, so, like, don’t even worry about that. As for the whole “stop your dog from biting” thing, perhaps you weren’t paying attention to the part where this is clearly a “Pet Entertainment Spoof” and, as such, Dumb Starbucks parody law applies.
