About

Homecoming is 2019 documentary directed by and starring recording artist Beyoncé. The film follows the planning and execution of Beyoncé 2018 Coachella performance.

History

On April 14th, 2018, Beyoncé headlined the Coachella music festival in Indio, California. The performance was largely considered a cultural event, receiving praise from various news outlets (shown below). For example, the New York Times[1] wrote:

There’s not likely to be a more meaningful, absorbing, forceful and radical performance by an American musician this year, or any year soon, than Beyoncé’s headlining set at the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival on Saturday night.

It was rich with history, potently political and visually grand. By turns uproarious, rowdy, and lush. A gobsmacking marvel of choreography and musical direction.

Film

On April 8th, 2019, Netflix premiered a documentary about the performance entitled Homecoming. When posted to YouTube, the video received more than 1 million views in 24 hours (shown below).

The tweet received more than 1,400 retweets and 7,300 likes in 24 hours (shown below, left).

Debuting in May, my delivery deadline to @Netflix is April 17. Many all-nighters to get it ready. But on that day, my lucky stars will reward me. With song + dance + maximum levels of blackness. Jesus loves me." The post received more than 2,000 retweets and 19,000 likes in 24 hours (shown below).
