Beyoncé "She Knows" Theories refers to a conspiracy theory that grew popular in September 2024. After Sean "Diddy" Combs was arrested in September 2024, many TikTokers began sharing edits supposedly linking Beyoncé and her husband Jay-Z to Diddy, using the song "She Knows" by J. Cole as evidence. The lyrics "rest in peace to Aaliyah, rest in peace to Left Eye, Michael Jackson I see ya," are often highlighted, implying that Beyoncé somehow played a role in their death. Videos of singers accepting awards while acknowledging Beyoncé also became a major theme in the conspiracy theory, with people speculating that the artists were in fear of losing to her. As the theories progressed, internet users began posting memes and jokes painting Beyoncé as a villain, posting videos and photos of other singers with the caption, "the fear in her eyes," and "she just wanted to survive."

Conspiracy theories linking Beyoncé Knowles Carter and her husband Jay-Z to the song "She Knows" by J Cole began to make the rounds on TikTok after September 23rd, 2024, with many TikTokers citing the lyrics, "rest in peace to Aaliyah, rest in peace to Left Eye, Michael Jackson I see ya," to imply that Beyoncé has her husband or Diddy assassinate artists she thinks are gaining more popularity than her.
TikToker[1] @nivinsmctwisp was one of the first to post a video of Beyoncé set to the track "She Knows" by J. Cole, gathering over 1.8 million views and 144,000 likes since it was posted on September 23rd, 2024.

TikToker[2] @thefernandomj also posted one such video on September 24th, linking Beyoncé and Jay-Z to the deaths of Aaliyah, Left Eye and Michael Jackson in a video that gathered over 8 million views and 160,000 likes in a week.

Developments
As the week progressed, more videos linked Beyoncé and Jay-Z to Diddy as well as the deaths of Aaliyah, Left Eye and Michael Jackson began making the rounds online. On September 26th, TikToker[3] @rdvllc posted a "She Knows" Beyoncé edit that gathered over 18 million plays and 2.8 million likes in four days.

Several TikTokers also posted videos of award winners acknowledging and thanking Beyoncé in their speeches, implying that they do so because they fear her influence and fear what she might do to someone she feels threatened by. Clips of Adele crying and thanking Beyoncé are often cited in such conspiracy theory videos, as are clips of Kanye interrupting Taylor Swift.
TikToker[4] @rezkue posted one such video on September 29th, 2024, gathering over 7 million plays and 1 million likes in a day.

Moreover, on September 30th, J. Cole's song "She Knows" alongside songs from several other artists like Adele was removed from YouTube following a legal dispute between YouTube and SESAC, a performance-rights organization. This prompted conspiracy theorists to discuss whether Beyoncé saw the theories about her and used her influence to remove the track from the video platform.[9]

The conspiracy theory spread to X (formerly Twitter) in late September 2024, however, these internet users appeared to share memes and jokes about the conspiracy theory rather than sincerely propagate it. On September 30th, X[5] user @quentinRIP posted a video of Beyoncé looking at Dua Lipa at an awards show, writing, "Dua knew she had to stay still to not anger her… you can see the fear in her eyes," and gathering over 195,000 likes in a day.
Also on September 30th, 2024, X[6] user @crulsmmr posted a meme showing an old tweet by singer Sia, joking about how it spells out "Beyoncé kidnapped me," and gathering over 130,000 likes in a day.
Also on September 30th, Redditor[7] /u/Greedy-Ad8391 asked /r/OutOfTheLoop why people were linking Beyoncé to Diddy, citing a rise in TikToks about the conspiracy theory. Redditors /u/RepresentativeOk2433 and /u/joe_bibidi posted replies explaining what they think is the root of the rumor.

Basically, anything shady that has happened over the years that would have benefited them (such as the death of another artist) is being linked to them in the conspiracy circles. They also moved out of the country which some believe is meant to help prevent extradition. While at the current moment there isn't much evidence to link them to anything, many of the things Diddy is being charged with now were considered open secrets in certain conspiracy circles for many years. The Jay-Z "On to the next one" music video from 2009 was widely accused of being full of "illuminati symbolism" from conspiracy theorists. Here's a now ten year old article from Vulture "decoding" the Jay-Z/Illuminati "rumors." The idea that there's a sort of "Black Illuminati" is itself a standalone conspiracy theory as well, it's not super well documented or written about—not that it's true of course, but even in the sense that like, people who debunk conspiracy theories haven't spent a lot of time investigating and dismantling the notion. Kat Williams recently stoked some of these fires, as has Kanye West.
