About

Nesoberi Nuigurumis, most commonly referred online as nesoberis or just nesos, is a series of plushies made and manufactured by SEGA. While being vastly popular among the Love Live!, there are various other nesoberis about other franchises, such as Touhou Project or Re:Zero.

Origins

The first nesoberi released was of the character Honoka Kousaka in 2015. They mostly appear in UFO Catchers around Japan, while other characters and/or designs can be purchased in physical stores or online. In an interview with SEGA in 2019, it was mentioned that at time, there were around 400 varieties made from 70 series, and about 4.6 million nesoberis were into market.[1]

Design

Nesoberis feature a big head with big eyes, inspired from the graphics of a whack-a-mole game that the younger brother of Yazawa Nico was playing during episode 4 of the 2nd season of the anime Love Live! School Idol project.[1]
