About

Not Another D&D Podcast, also known as NADDPOD, is a fantasy comedy podcast featuring former CollegeHumor staff Brian Murphy, Jake Hurwitz, Emily Axford and Caldwell Tanner (also known for Drawfee) in which the cast plays Dungeons & Dragons.

History

Before NADDPOD, Brian, Emily and Caldwell hosted a different podcast named 8-Bit Book Club where they read and made fun of books that were tie-ins to video games. This podcast occasionally featured Dungeons & Dragons content (examples below).

On January 1st, 2018, the podcast announced a new show, one focused exclusively on Dungeons & Dragons, adding castmember Jake Hurwitz. This episode introduced the concept, and the plans each member made for their character (shown below)

The next month, on February 2nd, the podcast launched its official Twitter account and published its trailer (shown below, left). The following week, they released the first episode (shown below, right).

On May 9th, 2020, the podcast premiered its campaign finale on its Twitch. Despite issues with the stream crashing, the stream had a consistent audience, with a peak viewership of 10,685.[7]

Fandom

NADDPOD has been incredibly successful as a podcast. The series's Patreon page is, according to Graphtreon, the fifth most popular podcast on the entire platform with over 16,000 patrons.[1] The podcast also has a TV Tropes page,[2] held sold-out live shows,[3] and has an active subreddit with over 20,000 members.[6] In addition, the series has an active fanart community.

The podcast's official Twitter[8] account garnered more than 18,000 followers in less than three years. On Instagram, [9] the show has more than 29,000 followers.
