Nyazsche is a webcomic artist known for their absurdist, crudely styled comics featuring anthropomorphic cats that comment on modern popular and internet culture. The series was launched in 2021, gaining viral popularity on X / Twitter in late 2023. The artist's name is a portmanteau of "nya" and "Nietzsche."

Origin

On November 18th, 2020, webcomic artist Nyazsche posted their first artwork, a drawing of an anthropomorphic cat wearing a nimbus on his head, to their Instagram^[1] account. On April 5th, 2021, Nyazsche posted their first publicly available webcomic titled "4 Steps 4 Easy Cash" to their Instagram where it gained 33 likes in three years (shown below, left). On May 28th, 2021, Nyazsche started posting his webcomics on X^[2] / Twitter, with a webcomic shared on that day gaining 3 reposts and 9 likes in three years (shown below, right).

Spread

Nyazsche continued sharing comics on Instagram and X / Twitter in the following years. On October 9th, 2021, Nyazsche posted their earliest work to gain traction, with the post garnering over 70 reposts and 680 likes on X^[3] in three years (shown below, left).

Nyazsche's webcomics did not draw significant attention until Spring 2023, when several of their works saw spread on X. For example, on March 27th, 2023, Nyazsche posted a comic that received over 340 reposts and 1,900 likes on X^[4] in one year (shown below).

Through 2023, multiple comics shared by the artist went viral on X / Twitter, with the popularity of the webcomic increasing significantly in November 2023. For example, on November 5th, 2023, Nyazsche posted a comic referencing the Sticking Out Your Gyatt for the Rizzler meme that received over 13,000 reposts and 91,000 likes on X^[5] in four months (shown below, left). On November 7th, the artist posted a Har Har Har Har meme that garnered over 17,000 reposts and 102,000 likes in the same period (shown below, right).
