The original video was posted to TikTok in November 2023, causing memetic usage and remixes en masse. The "Sunflower Kid" is named Kevin G, also known as K3VIN_G or @k3vingabor, who's an 11-year-old boy diagnosed with Osteogenesis Imperfecta.

On November 11th, 2023, TikToker^[1] @k3vingabor (aka K3VIN_G) posted a video of himself singing the song "Sunflower" by Post Malone & Swae Lee which was prominently featured in the Spider-Man: Into the Spider-verse film. Over 11 days, the video received roughly 4.6 million plays and 462,500 likes (shown below).

Memetic and exploitable usage of the video predominantly surfaced on November 20th, 2023, when TikToker^[2] @topboydem69 layered a sped-up version in a Fortnite setting, gaining over 2.6 million plays and 408,800 likes in two days (shown below, left).

On November 21st, 2023, TikToker^[3] @funnyshit611 also posted a sped-up version with a caption related to Fortnite, gaining roughly 1.7 million plays and 258,700 likes in one day (shown below, right).

On November 21st, 2023, TikToker^[4] @kaitheadmin greenscreened K3VIN_G into a car and used the nickname Cutie Patootie, gaining over 1.7 million plays and 285,900 likes in a day (shown below, left).

As the video went viral, meme creators began using other videos from K3VIN_G's page. For instance, on November 22nd, 2023, TikToker^[5] @realbryson_ posted a K3VIN_G video with a caption related to Fortnite, gaining roughly 751,800 plays and 157,100 likes in less than a day (shown below, right).
