About

The Last Dance Trend refers to a TikTok dance trend and animation meme that spread on the platform in late 2026. The trend features two characters or people performing a synchronized dance to the song "fpd ff7 botsu 8" by Vocaloid producer Maretu. The audio, which was nicknamed "The Last Dance" by fans, became associated with English-language covers in the fall of 2026 as the trend went viral.

The animation trend generally depicts two characters sharing an elegant or coordinated dance, often framed as a metaphorical final moment together, as well as some earlier examples showing a group of characters running along a rotating wheel. Many animations use the format to portray characters parting ways, saying goodbye, dying or experiencing another significant change. As a result, the trend became particularly popular among fandom communities making edits of romantic pairings.

As the trend spread, live-action videos featuring real people performing the choreography together became prominent as well, typically featuring cosplay. Unlike some viral TikTok dances, the trend does not have one clearly established original creator responsible for both formats, developing organically over time in a few different trends.
