About

The Egyptian Trend or Egypt Trend is an animation meme trend in which a character is shown next to an Egyptian pyramid, both are covered by a wall of hieroglyphics, and then an ancient Egyptian-themed version of the character dancing is revealed. The trend, which is set to the song "Screwbot Factory 2" from Rhythm Heaven, was started on TikTok in late March 2025 by TikToker @isetekh and was further popularized throughout early April 2025 on TikTok and YouTube Shorts. It is often used to show thirst traps of given characters. The trend has notably been compared to Ankha Zone.

Origin

On March 24th, 2025, TikToker[1] @isetekh posted an animation set to "Screwbot Factory 2" from Rhythm Heaven[2] that gained over 4.9 million views in two weeks. In the animation, a hieroglyphics-style drawing of their Sonic the Hedgehog OC Setekh is shown on-screen. A wall of hieroglyphics covers the drawing, and then, as the beat drops, the image transitions to a more detailed drawing of Setekh doing an Egyptian dance that has been compared to the Ankha Zone dance. This is the earliest known version of the meme.

@isetekh drops and runs away, BTW THIS ISNT SONIC ITS MY OC AND HIS NAME IS SETEKH please stop calling my oc Sonic. its very disrespectful towards my months of work on this character and id like if yall could stop and actually acknowledge that hes my own character with his own lore and personality. he is infact from sonic universe but NOT the same person as sonic. also im pretty sure i didnt start this trend but among the sonic community i guess i did but i dont take the original credits! unfortunately i dont know who the original credits belong to but i wanna reassure that im certainly not the original. ,, #sonicoc #oc #setekh #sonicthehedgehog #art ♬ screwbot factory 2 rhythm Heaven fever – lancelqt
