About
They/Them Pussy, also known as Thussy or þussy, is a portmanteau slang term that combines the nonbinary pronouns "they/them" and the word "pussy." The word was first conceived sometime in late April 2017 on Tumblr. The term and concept began to gain meme momentum in January 2021 and continued gaining traction throughout the year.
Origin
The first known mentioning of the word "thussy," which pre-dates the later term "þussy," occurred on Tumblr[1] in April 2017. On April 29th, 2017, Tumblr user pyrruby responded to an anonymous message mentioning the word "thussy" replying, "WWAHATS A THUSSY" (shown below, top). A few days later on May 2nd, 2017, Tumblr[2] user basedheisenberg also responded to an anonymous message that asked, "What the fuck is this thussy shit?" (shown below, bottom). It's estimated that the term was coined by someone in late April 2017 and that these Tumblr posts were reactions to it, though the exact first is unknown.
On July 29th, 2018, the first mentioning of the term "þussy" was uttered on Tumblr[3] from user patchwork-passions (shown below).

This moment is the most notable starting point for the eventual super-spread of the term beginning in early 2021. Multiple users replied to this post, some explaining grammatically the logic behind the "þ" letter.

-Ussy
Ussy refers to the suffix "-ussy," used to make portmanteaus with the word "pussy." The internet slang trend predates meme history, surfacing in LGBTQ+ discourse as early as the late 1980s with the word Bussy. Other iterations have since appeared like Nussy, Thrussy, Thussy and the meme template Who Need They Pussy Ate? Memes emerged in abundance in late 2021 about "Words That End In -Ussy."
Of course, the first -ussy portmanteau was "bussy," originally added to Urban Dictionary on March 7th, 2004,[18] by user four_stave_score, where over the course of 18 years, it's received over 500 likes (shown below). The definition labels it as a mix of "butthole" and "pussy," but most definitions label it as a portmanteau of "boy" and "pussy," referring to the hole of a bottom.
