This Shot Is Brilliant is a copypasta based off a tweet by a Twitter user praising a shot from the Game of Thrones finale in which the dragon Drogon appears and spreads its wings behind Daenerys Targaryen, making it briefly appear as though the wings are hers. Twitter users took the text of the tweet and added humorous images.

Origin

On May 20th, 2019, following the Game of Thrones finale, Twitter user @jhill1191[1] tweeted in praise a shot in which Drogon's wings appear behind Daenerys Targaryen, "This shot is brilliant and should be shown in any film study class #GameofThrones." The tweet gained over 4,400 retweets and 19,000 likes (shown below).

Twitter users responded to the tweet by arguing it was not as impressive a shot as the tweet made it out to be. User @devinvaldivia[2] tweeted the shot was like "the Big Mac of symbolism" (shown below, left). User @mackenzynj[3] sarcastically tweeted "woah, it’s almost like….she’s the dragon," gaining over 690 likes (shown below, middle). User @haremetal1[4] joked "It took 16 months to get that shot because dragons don't normally do that" (shown below, right).

The tweet became a popular copypasta in the days after it was posted as people added humorous images to the text. For example, user @responsiblerob[5] posted a still from Spy Kids with the text, gaining over 1,000 retweets and 5,100 likes (shown below, left). User @Papapishu[6] tweeted the joke using a still from Ace Ventura: Pet Detective, gaining over 4,200 retweets and 28,000 likes (shown below, right). Jokes were covered by The AV Club.[7]
