Three Layer Dip Stack or 3 Layer Dip Stack is a 2026 TikTok brainrot meme and song based on a line from a 2020 Pringles Super Bowl commercial featuring a robot version of the character Morty from Rick and Morty. The meme centers on the absurdly repetitive phrase, “Cheddar and barbecue wavy and sour cream and onion equals a three-layer dip stack,” delivered by robotic Morty clones in the commercial’s teaser.

The clip resurfaced on TikTok in July and August 2026, where its exaggerated delivery and nonsensical food combination popularized it as a brainrot sound and catchphrase. The memes often use two different remixes, which turned the ad into a song, created by TikTokers SpaceShrimp and tobiasFT.

Origin

The phrase originated from a 2020 Pringles advertising campaign promoting “flavor stacking,” a concept encouraging consumers to combine different Pringles flavors to create new combinations.

In a teaser for the campaign, a robotic version of Morty, depicted with Pringles logos for eyes, teaches a classroom full of identical Morty clones about flavor stacking. He announces, “Cheddar and barbecue wavy and sour cream and onion equals a three-layer dip stack,” which the students repeat together in Morty’s characteristic high-pitched voice.^[1]

A reupload of the commercial, posted to YouTube^[2] on July 30th, 2020, by user multtrash1434, received around 141,000 views in about six years.

The Three Layer Dip Stack ad began spreading widely on TikTok in the mid-to-late 2025 and early 2026 period, when the original Pringles-Morty audio and imagery were rediscovered and repurposed as brainrot content.

On July 8th, 2026, TikTok^[7] user @spaceshrimp_78 (SpaceShrimp) uploaded a remix of the ad, turning it into a song and calling it the "song of the summer." The post received over 776,000 views, 70,000 likes and 3,050 comments in a month.

On August 9th, 2026, TikToker^[9] @tobias_ft_124 (tobiasFT) then shared another remix song using the advert, garnering over 1.8 million views, 319,900 likes and 4,470 comments in nine days.

Spread

Over the following days and weeks, the Three Layer Dip Stack ad and memes spread online, especially posts set to the two remix songs on TikTok.

On July 28th, 2026, TikToker^[8] @thejessicate posted a video of themself making the three-layer stacks set to SpaceShrimp's song, garnering over 119,700 likes and 2,450 comments in roughly three weeks.

On August 4th, 2026, TikTok^[3] user @leomewtq10z used the audio attached to a video of Pringles being found at the store. The video received 756,700 views and 106,200 likes in less than two weeks.

A notable offshoot of the trend developed in VRChat, where players began using flat, cardboard-style avatars based on the robotic Pringles Morty from the commercial.

Groups of players would enter VRChat servers, particularly sleep and roleplay worlds, and repeatedly chant the “three-layer dip stack” line. The raids were frequently compared to the earlier Ugandan Knuckles VRChat raids.

On August 6th, 2026, the YouTube^[4] channel Lessons in Meme Culture (LIMC) posted a video on the phenomenon, tying it to the larger trend of the Pringles commercial. The video received over 330,300 views in about 11 days.

On August 7th, 2026, TikTok^[5] user @slime.148 used and remixed the audio for an Alight Motion animatic, which received over 3.5 million views and 466,900 likes in about 10 days. The video quickly spread across the platform, furthering the spread of the audio.

On August 13th, 2026, TikTok^[5] user @kettlecornbob referenced the above video after finding Pringles at the grocery store. The video received over 1 million views and 135,600 likes in about four days.
