About
Throw Bricks at Transphobic People is a catchphrase popularized through a series of exploitable memes that show a pop culture character saying the phrase via a speech bubble. The meme, which is possibly inspired by the Throwing Bricks at Homeless People memes, was originally posted on X / Twitter as early as September 2024 and became increasingly popularized over the following months. In May 2025, the format saw increased virality after rapper BBNO$ and influencers the Voros Twins posted viral versions of the meme.
Origin
On September 19th, 2024, X[1] user @HonkaiChibi posted an image of a chibi Senti doll from Honkai Impact 3rd with the attached speech bubble, "Throw bricks at transphobic people," garnering over 2,000 likes in eight months. This is the earliest known use of the phrase as a meme.

Spread
The meme format garnered viral spread over the following months as the speech bubble was attached to new characters.
On September 21st, 2024, X[2] user @mistelnism posted a version of the meme featuring Boothill from Honkai Star Rail, garnering over 16,000 likes in eight months.
On September 27th, X[3] user @cylast_ posted a version featuring Goku and Vegeta from Dragon Ball, garnering over 10,000 likes in the same span of time.

On January 6th, 2025, Redditor u/PaitoXD_ posted a version of the meme to the /r/TransformersArt[4] subreddit in which Greenlight shares the message, garnering over 2,000 upvotes in four months.
On January 29th, Redditor u/Archian01 posted a version of the meme featuring Godzilla to the /r/Godzillamemes[5] subreddit, garnering over 2,300 upvotes in the same span of time.

On May 20th, 2025, X[6] user and rapper @bbnomula posted a version of the meme featuring an image of himself with a face mask on, garnering over 125,000 likes and 16,000 reposts in two days.

On the same day, the Voros Twins, best known for the Da Vinki video, posted a version of the meme to X[7] and Instagram[8] featuring the caption, "Throw dumbbells at transphobic people" over their faces, garnering over 171,000 likes and 20,000 reposts on the former and 129,000 likes on the latter in two days. The meme references their series of videos where they pretend to throw dumbbells at each other.[9]
The video inspired several popular reactions. For example, on May 21st, X[10] user @catgirlprostate quoted the post, writing, "And yet there's dozens of videos of them throwing dumbbells at each other… Anything you guys wanna admit?" garnering over 99,000 likes in a day.
