Tom Cruise Running is a running gag of actor Tom Cruise. It consist of a numerous images, videos, and gifs of Tom Cruise running as he is notable for running excessively in his films.
Origin
The earliest gif found is from the film Mission Impossible III released in 2006, the long take of Tom Cruise Running. The gif was made by an anonymous user in the site MakeAGIF which was uploaded in 2007.[1]
Spread
Tom Cruise Running has a Tumblr site dedicated to every film of Tom Cruise and separates the ones that includes him running and the one of him not.The site is created by Paul T Layland. On December 20, 2013 Paul uploaded a Youtube video titled Tom Cruise Running | 2013 | The Definitive Supercut in which he includes in the Tumblr site.[2]
Tom Cruise's Twitter
Tom Cruise's official Twitter Account @TomCruise includes the gag in his Twitter Bio. In the Twitter Bio, it reads "Actor. Producer. Running in movies since 1981.".[3]
Media Reference
On May 20, 2007, Family Guy aired their 18th episode of Season 5 titled "Meet the Quagmires", in which it had a segment referencing Tom Cruise's Running. On March 13, 2012, Cougar Town aired their 5th episode of Season 3 titled "A One Story Town" that includes the gag of Tom Cruise Running.
