True Goon Stare or When A Fakegooncel Says Something Pornophobic refers to a copypasta often accompanied by an exploitable photo or redraw of coomer man (aka Jayman) or another character who many resemble a "coomer" staring forward, reading, "When a fakegooncel says something so pornphobic you gotta hit him with that true goon stare." The copypasta references gooning and first appeared on X, formerly Twitter, in March 2023, spreading over the following year. The copypasta is similar to the You Gotta Hit Them With The Stare phrasal template and fluoride stare meme.

Origin

On January 31st, 2019, VICE^[1] posted a report from the porn industry event AVN Adult Entertainment Expo 2019 in Las Vegas. One of the photographs featured a group of men standing near the BLACKED booth, with a man in a blue shirt and jeans, known as Jayman, looking at the camera. Starting in early September 2019, the photograph of the man was circulated on /tv/ board of 4chan^[2][3], with several Coomer memes featuring the man being posted (shown below).

On March 18th, 2023, now-suspended X^[4] user @PoisonOutPlant posted a close-up photo of Jayman under the caption, "When a fakegooncel says something so pornphobic you gotta hit him with that true goon stare," garnering an unknown number of likes in eight months (shown below). A screenshot of the post was reposted by Instagram^[5] user ladylibertinage3 on March 20th, garnering around 120 likes in eight months.

Spread

The post text spread as a copypasta throughout 2023 alongside redraws of Jayman and similar images of people portrayed as coomers. On April 9th, 2023, a now-deleted Redditor posted a photosho of Jayman to /r/okbuddyreze^[6] writing, "When a fakefujimotocel says something so incestphobic you gotta hit them with that true goon stare," garnering over 400 upvotes in seven months.

On May 16th, Instagram^[7] user femboy_griffith posted an image macro using the copypasta over another image depicting a Chaos Space Marine of the Emperor's Children from Warhammer 40K, garnering over 1,100 likes in six months (shown below).

On July 5th, X^[8] user @bara_moe_bltch posted the copypasta alongside a photo of yassified Five Nights at Freddy's characters, garnering over 5,900 likes in four months (shown below, left). On September 15th, iFunny^[9] user Pvt_Parts posted a version of the copypasta alongside a drawing of a "goon";https://knowyourmeme.com/memes/goonposting-its-da-bat, garnering over 5,700 smiles in two months (shown below, right).
