About
Wanna Smash? refers to a trend on TikTok set to JELEEL's song "DIVE IN!" in which a fictional character asks via caption, "wanna smash?" then continues to ask if the third party would like to smash given several different scenarios, always followed by the repeated lyrical answer, "Yeah!" The trend began in April 2022 and evolved in October under new original sounds, particularly one in which a cartoon character asks, "wanna smash?" followed by someone refusing, then the character turning into an IRL person, changing the respondent's mind.
Origin
On April 5th, 2022, TikToker[1] @inenssenu, known as "rai," posted a video (shown below) set to "DIVE IN!" showing an image of Toji from Chainsaw Man captioned, "rai so you wanna fck?" The video then cuts to a profile screenshot of Rai, named @fwraii at the time, captioned, "yeah" as JELEEL sings the same word. The video continues to alternate between the two images, each image of Toji captioned with a new question, such as, "even if I was a girl?" and "even if I had a disease?" with @fwraii always saying "yeah." The video gained over 1.2 million views in six months.
