About

Green M&M is an anthropomorphic M&M who is a part of the comedic ensemble of M&M's characters appearing in brand's commercials and promos. Designed as "the sexy one," the character has originally worn go-go boots. In 2017, following the popularization of the Green M&M Bambi Copypasta on Tumblr and Twitter, the character achieved notable popularity online as a subject of hornyposting.

Origin

The first anthropomorphic M&M characters appeared in black-and-white adverts for the candy in 1954^[1]. The female Green M&M mascot was introduced decades later, in 1995. YouTube^[2] user @LuckyLionBear uploaded a video on December 25th, 2016, showing the evolution of M&M's mascots since 1974. The post (seen below), garnered 31,600 views and 150 likes in seven years.

Green M&M's first commercial aired on January 12th, 1997, showing a talk show interview of the anthropomorphic candies introducing themselves. The ad (seen below) was uploaded on YouTube^[3] by @HallOfAdvertising on April 4th, 2019, receiving 51,000 views and 308 likes in four years.

Spread

Even prior to the internet meme culture being established, the green M&M was already considered for decades as the “sexy” one. On February 6th, 2009, YouTube^[4] user @AirForceFYeah uploaded a TV commercial featuring the character laying on a bed while eating M&M's. The video (seen below, left) garnered 255,000 views and 953 likes in 14 years. Another tv commercial, uploaded on YouTube^[5] by @MMsStreet on September 8th, 2008, shows Green M&M doing a strip tease dance. The video (seen below, right) garnered 317,000 views and 1,800 likes in 15 years.

The M&Ms Characters Modern Makeover refers to a character redesign and tweak to reflect a "more dynamic, progressive world." One of the most notable redesign changes includes de-emphasizing the green M&M's sexuality, which enraged some fans on social media. For example, user @dantnty^[6] posted the Debimboification image with regards to the green M&M, gaining over 370 retweets and 3,500 likes (shown below).

Haci Como Escuchaste

Haci Como Escuchaste or Así Como Escuchaste refers to a sarcastic expression used by the Spanish-speaking community, which translates to "Just like you heard." The phrase is often associated with an image macro of Green M&M seated on a couch. For example, Facebook^[7] page @Indirectas.ARG posted (seen below) the meme on November 17th, 2022, garnering 1,500 likes and 846 shares.

Green M&M Bambi Copypasta

The Green M&M Bambi Copypasta refers to a 2017 Tumblr user impersonating the M&M character in a post saying "hate this site." The full copypasta:
