About

What Did He Say? is a viral Tiktok audio sound uploaded for the sole purpose of others using it in their own Tiktoks. The audio is used completely out of context in the original video, and is meant to be an easy plug and play audio sound for others.

Origin

On June 27th, 2021, the Tiktok[1] account meme_spots posted the initial Tiktok, with the caption that it was a video requested by another Tiktok account named 'i_hit_children_hard', with the video gaining 13.7 thousand likes in seven months (shown below).

This video led to the creation of the sound page, which shows that over 880 videos have been made using the sound in the past seven months[2].

Spread

The viral sound started to get use in videos which revolved around a person hearing something, usually represented in the form of text on the screen, and then proceeding to look in disbelief before challenging or overcoming whatever was said about them. An example of this was uploaded on January 8th, 2022 by the Tiktok user ftbl_globe.rv19[3], in which the concerned party is the Manchester United player Greenwood, with the Tiktok getting over 7,000 likes in one month (shown below).

The most liked example of the meme comes from the candid video uploaded by dylanconrique on October 28th, 2021, where they are stunned at the Buffalo Bills reaching out to them about performing at one of their live games. The Tiktok[4] received over 100,000 thousand likes in four months (shown below).

On January 30th, 2022, the Tiktok account shorty_lou[5] posted another use for the sound, in which someone reacts to another person saying something incredulous. This example uses Harry Styles from One Direction and Nial Horan, earning 6,000 likes in three days (shown below).
