About

The Whisper Method, also known as the Whisper Technique or Whisper Manifestation, is a manifestation and meditation technique similar to Reality Shifting and "Law of Attraction" where people pretend to whisper into the ear of their specific person (SP) in order to manifest something from them (a text message, job offer, proposal, etc.) into reality. The technique originates from the self-help writer Neville Goddard, however, it became an online topic in the 2020s within videos on YouTube and TikTok. This started in 2016 but trended en masse in 2022.

Origin

The Whisper Method is said to be a variant of teachings by Neville Goddard,[1] a Barbadian New Thought author who wrote on the Bible, mysticism, and self-help from 1939 to 1961. Within many of his books, Goddard referenced what he called the "Inner Conversation Technique."

In a post uploaded to the /r/NevilleGoddard[2] subreddit on April 24th, 2022, Redditor taurusmoon1141 relayed quotes and information from Goddard's 1952 book The Power Of Awareness that related to the "Inner Conversation Technique" which is the positive adjustment of imaginary conversations a person has in their mind to reflect how one wants the conversations to play out in reality. One quote stated in the Reddit post was, "Others only echo that which we whisper to them in secret.”

Also, YouTuber[3] Twenty Twenty posted a video on January 17th, 2018 that was about the "Whispering Technique" and gave quotes in his description taken from the 2016 book Mental Diets,[4] being a refiguring of Goddard's lectures from the 20th-century. Again, this gives evidence of Neville Goddard's influence in creating the modern-day "Whisper Method."

Online Origin

Video content made about the "Whisper Technique" surfaced on YouTube in 2016, most likely inspired by the parallel "Inner Conversation Technique" highlighted in the May 2016 Goddard book Mental Diets.[4] The first YouTube video about the "Whisper Technique" was uploaded on August 15th, 2016, by YouTuber[5] Agnes Vivarelli, titled "Whispering Technique." Continuing into 2018 and 2019, more self-help YouTube channels covered the "Whispering Technique." For instance, on October 12th, 2018, YouTuber Law of Attraction Solutions posted a video about the technique that received roughly 48,700 views in four years (shown below, right).
