About
Whose Pussy Is This? is a satirical catchphrase about what men stereotypically say during sex to their female partners. Men uttering the phrase were labeled as cringe in memes on Twitter and elsewhere by women who had been the subject of its usage, which was marginally popularized through the phrase's use in pornography dialogue. This started in the late 2000s but trended en masse during the early 2020s.
Origin
The phrase "Whose Pussy Is This?" dates back to at least 2010 on Twitter, evident in tweets such as one posted on May 8th, 2010, by Twitter[1] user Killerwit who wrote, "I'm just trying to answer the big questions. Like, 'What's the meaning of life?' and 'Whose pussy is this?'" earning five likes in 12 years. In June 2013, Twitter user FeministaJones tweeted, "If a man asks 'Whose pussy is this?', respond, 'Y--Y--You---You---You don't know him' between strokes," and earned an unknown amount of likes, however, multiple retweets[2][3] are still accessible to attest to its virality. This since-deleted tweet potentially helped popularized the concept going forward. In June 2013, Twitter user FeministaJones notably had over 11,000 followers.[4]
Spread
Continuing into the late 2010s, the concept became prevalent in increasingly viral tweets. For instance, on October 14th, 2017, Twitter[5] user SDRHK_ tweeted, "'Whose pussy is this?' / First of all, it’s your boys. Just enjoy the moment without the questions," earning roughly 1,700 likes in five years, being the first-known tweet to reach over 1,000 likes (shown below, left). On January 3rd, 2019, Twitter[6] user juliannarvivas tweeted, "Him: whose pussy is this? / Me: lmao you don’t know him," earning roughly 14,600 likes in three years (shown below, right).
On July 30th, 2019, Twitter[7] user VagueGrey tweeted, "'whose pussy is this?', he cried, as she let out a half-hearted moan to dodge the question," earning roughly 26,800 likes in three years (shown below, left). Two months later, on September 18th, 2019, Twitter[8] user KylePlantEmoji related the phrase to Communism, implying that the "pussy" should be shared and gaining roughly 55,900 likes in three years (shown below, right).
Going into the 2020s, the cliche only became more prevalent in memes on Twitter and elsewhere. For instance, on August 18th, 2021, the Instagram [9] page thegainzs2 used a Batman template with a Drake song, relaying in the meme's caption that the imagined woman asked Alexa to turn up the volume on the song playing after the phrase was uttered by the man. In one year, the meme received roughly 66,000 views and 6,400 likes (shown below).
From mid-2022 into late 2022, "Whose Pussy Is This?" was referenced en masse on Twitter.
