Origin

On August 29th, 2014, Episode 22 of JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Stardust Crusaders, titled "Judgement, Part 2," aired in Japan.[1] In the episode, Advol says the quote when a character called Polnareff says his name, questioning if it is actually him, and they begin to fight against Cameo (clip, shown below).

Online, users began making image macros and video remixes of the meme in the summer of 2017. For example, On August 15th, 2017, YouTube[2] user Skyguy121 posted a video of the original scene spliced with a video of a kid saying the quote. The video gained more than 319,000 views in 6 years (shown below, left). On September 7th, 2020, YouTube[3] user dankbidoof uploaded an edit based on the scene that received more than 1 million views in three years (shown below, right).



On March 15th, 2019, Reddit[4] user CodaOuma posted an image macro to the r/ShitPostCrusaders subreddit with the top text saying "You're really gonna make a JoJo meme without subtitles and expect people to get the joke?" The post has gained over 3.300 upvotes in 2 years (shown below.)
