You Big Into Peaky Blinders, or Don't Even Joke Lad, is an exploitable image macro meme format based on an Instagram Story question where a user asks, "You big into Peaky Blinders?" and the recipient answers with an image of a character from Peaky Blinders under the caption, "Don't even joke lad," as if he seriously loves Peaky Blinders. The image captioned "don't even joke lad" was posted to iFunny as early as 2022 and the Instagram question meme was posted to Facebook in 2023, becoming an increasingly popular meme format over the following years.

Origin

On September 2nd, 2022, iFunny^[1] user thicclord1_2020 posted an image macro of a character from Peaky Blinders captioned "don't even joke lad," garnering around four smiles in two years (shown below, left). On April 11th, 2023, Facebook^[2] user Difficulty Online posted a screenshot of an Instagram Story question where the user uses the meme to answer the question, "You big into Peaky Blinders?" garnering around 50 reactions in a year (shown below, right). These are the earliest known accounts to post the memes.

Spread

The Instagram question version of the meme gained viral spread over the following years as a reaction image and exploitable meme format. On April 19th, 2023 it was posted by X^[3] user @spk67_, garnering over 1,700 likes in a year. On May 7th, it was posted by X^[4] user @kiIIjohnlennon, writing, "this been killing me all day," garnering over 11,000 likes in a year.

On February 9th, 2024, X^[5] user @dilftaro posted an edit of the meme captioned, "You big into oc x canon," garnering over 2,100 likes in four months (shown below).

On May 7th, X^[6] user @kobratwink87 posted a version of the meme reading "you big into vampirism," garnering over 6,100 likes in a month (shown below).
