"You're So Short," "Put Some Inches In Me Then" is a joke catchphrase and copypasta originally posted to Twitter in September 2021. The phrase spread through reposts over the following year, inspiring an exploitable meme template and redraw series in August 2022 where one character says the line to another and pats them on the head.

Origin

On September 6th, 2021, Twitter^[1] user @babycucumberr posted, "dudes be calling me short like put some inches in me," gaining around six likes in a year. This is the earliest known post sharing the joke. Other Twitter^[2] users began posting versions of the same joke that month. On September 13th, Twitter^[3] user @luvmdrea posted a version of the joke, garnering over 65,000 likes and 11,000 retweets in a year (shown below).

Spread

The joke continued to spread over the following weeks and months. On September 29th, 2021, Instagram^[4] user girlyzar posted an image of the joke on a white background, garnering over 211,000 likes in a year. In January 2022, TikTokers^[5][6] @the_unknown_nuggie and @user8913597825908 posted videos using the joke, garnering over a million views each in eight months (shown below, left and right).

On August 20th, 2022, Tumblr^[7] user boss posted a line drawing of two simple characters, one patting the other's head. The one patting says, "you're so short," the other one responds, "ok put some inches in me then," garnering over 9,000 notes in a month (shown below). It was reposted to iFunny^[8] the next day.

On August 23rd, 2022, artist ScodreyS posted a piece of furry artwork redrawing the format to Twitter^[9] and /r/furry_irl,^[10] garnering over 1,000 likes on the former and 3,100 upvotes on the latter in a month (shown below, left). On September 10th, Twitter^[11] user @cravedcuddle reposted the format, garnering over 244,000 likes and 28,000 retweets in two days. On September 11th, Twitter^[12] user @BSkelebunny01 posted an Undertale redraw of the meme (shown below, right). On the same day, the format was shared on Facebook,^[13] garnering over 5,500 shares and 12,000 reactions in a day.
