'Cyberpunk 2077' Drops Free Next-Gen Update Today, Resulting In Cautious Excitement From Fans After Its Rocky Launch

Cyberpunk 2077 released on December 10th, 2020, to notoriously bad glitches and other issues most commonly on Xbox One and PS4, leading to a legendary media campaign comprised of various apologies calling attention to how bad of a state the game was in.
At the time, the promise was made from CDPR that there was a design roadmap that would be strictly followed, with the game getting improvements and new updates to remedy its rocky launch. Finally, after 14 months, the game's new 1.5 patch, complete with now current-gen console upgraded versions for free on the PS5 and Xbox Series X, is out.

congrats to PlayStation 5 cyberpunk owners: you can finally have people in the streets. Hope the save file transfer works.
One thing I hate about the ps5 is that it simply does not recognize the same game across gens. You gotta download a new game for this.— Gene Park (@GenePark) February 15, 2022

Among the updates that the new and improved game is supposed to feature is ray tracing, an achievement system for newer consoles, a better performance mode so the game will have less tearing and stutter, as well as utilization of the PS5's adaptive triggers, easily one of the best features of the console itself. Initial reports of the changes were taken with a grain of salt, as many won't believe anything said by the company until they test it out for themselves, due to how poorly the initial game release was.

Cyberpunk next-gen version is very good, I’m on PS5. It’s the most stable it’s ever been, lots of new small features added not mentioned on stream. NPCs and crowds are overhauled, cutscenes play out like they’re supposed to, and items aren’t floating. Also lot of new Jojo poses. pic.twitter.com/NnLqaoGL56

Possibly because of this, CD Projekt Red has done a huge service to gamers and decided to release a free playable demo that lets you play up to five hours of the game for free, so you can truly try it out for yourself to see if it's worth investing in.
You can download Cyberpunk 2077 Free Trial on Playstation 5 and Xbox Series X & S for the next 30 days, starting now!
Play for up to 5 hours and transfer your save to the full game, should you decide to purchase it. pic.twitter.com/vs6MyS0k8m— Marcin Momot (@Marcin360) February 15, 2022
