The internet's favorite dog, Doge, is celebrating her 17th birthday this year, and the perfect way to celebrate it has already been put into motion. The plan was simple, to create a large bronze statue of the Shiba Inu, with the first goal being $42,069 to pay for it.

Within a mere 69 hours, this goal was reached, leading to an outpouring of wholesome celebration and laughter as the meme managed to raise the "meme number" within the "meme time-frame," all for the sake of Doge, whose real name is Kabosu.

Since meeting the original goal, the plan has since shifted slightly. Money-raising efforts for the crowdfunding venture will continue as expected, but now the idea is to make the statue as large as physically and monetarily possible.

This means that the more people who donate and the larger the amounts, the more impressive the final statue will be. The new development has now inspired people to photoshop various Doge statues and poses next to large structures, implying that the statue will become so gargantuan that it towers above buildings.

Kabosu's owner Atsuko celebrated the internet icon's birthday last week, receiving much love from the internet at large. Here's to hoping for many more years of good health and birthdays for Doge.
