Sean Spicer Resigns, Twitter Reacts
Sean Spicer, the long-embattled Press Secretary of the Donald Trump administration, resigned around noon today. Spicer, who had become one of the internet’s favorite trainwrecks for his daily bumbling in defense of the actions of President Trump and his administration, tended his resignation because he was unhappy with the appointment of Anthony Scaramucci as the new White House Communications Director.
After months of rolling with the punches from almost everywhere--the press, Saturday Night Live, and even President Trump-- Spicer may have thought the job was coming to him. But this is the same Trump who did not let Spicer meet the Pope out of sheer spite. That Spicer, the man who once moonlit as the White House Easter Bunny, would be snubbed for a Fox News talking head and Wall Street guy with no experience in communications likely because he sucks up to Trump is a fitting end for the man's six-month tenure.
People on Twitter were quick to imagine what it must have been like for Spicer to send in his resignation after the final straw broke his back:

Others offered their tongue-in-cheek condolences to Spicer, the man who had become a subject of contempt for his manipulation of the truth and mockery for his poorly thought-out claims, with some finally coming around to recognize him as a man who had been stuck between a rock and a hard place.
