You see, the government needs taxes in order to fund projects, maintain public services, and pay federal employees. But when people cheat and don't pay what they should, the government doesn't get the money they need to cover all of these things. Because of this, they may have to cut spending in certain areas, or even raise the tax rate to get more funds. And if you get caught for evading your taxes, you could go to jail for up to 5 years.
