Then I received emails from my friends Wen Zhou and @therealphilliplim encouraging our communities to speak out against this criminal behavior. But when my father called me today warning me to be careful out in the streets, I realized anti-Asian violence had become #STOP ASIAN HATE another kind of pandemic. Back in early-Covid days, anti-Asian hatred was already on the rise thanks to incendiary "kung-flu" propaganda. So when a Black person attacks an Asian peron, the encounter is fueled perhaps by racism, but very specifically by white supremacy. White supremacy does not require a white person to perpetuate it.
