It's unfortunate that a majority of people still don't know the difference between ads and general filtering content.
Web browser are today literal virtual operating systems that downloads, installs and execute any piece of code without having people consenting to it directly to the opposite of any operating system.
It counters all the principals of sane security like any filtering system like firewalls on OS's and google wants to be able to remove such web filtering functions because their business relies on being big brother like the other entities such as facebook, oracle etc…
As long as chrome or chromium derivatives are the new Internet Explorer the web cannot be free as in freedom.
Best choice right now is Mozilla Firefox right now. It's the only major browser that isn't based on chrome technology.
