Overview

Spawnism is a cult in Roblox represented by the video game's spawn symbol, where participants worship "The Spawn," a god said to allow players who worship it to respawn. The fictional cult was started as a part of the Roblox game Forsaken. In July 2025, Spawnism garnered controversy as Roblox players seemingly started to actually follow the cult in real life by carving the spawn symbol into their skin. That month, one of the supposed leaders of the cult, who goes by Chezble, was exposed for allegedly preying on people in Discord and getting them to cut the spawn symbol and his own name into their skin, leading to the alleged suicide of a member of the Discord page. He deleted his accounts as a response to the negative exposure.

History

Spawnism is a Roblox cult purportedly inspired by the fictional cult in the popular Roblox horror game Forsaken, which features members of the so-called Spawn Cult^[1] who worship The Spawn,^[2] described as a god that allows you to respawn. The Spawn Cult's symbol is a version of Roblox's default respawn symbol.^[3]

/r/SpawnCult

On March 11th, 2025, the /r/SpawnCult^[4] subreddit was started to roleplay as members of the Spawn Cult. The subreddit gained over 2,400 followers over the next four months and insists in its description that it is not related to Spawnism and that it is not a real religion or cult.

Spawnism Cult Worship

By May 2025, some people began posting photographs of the respawn symbol cut into their skin, claiming to be following the cult of Spawnism.

For example, on May 3rd, 2025, X^[5] user @dameown made a post showing the symbol in their skin, reading, "spawn. #shtwt #forsaken" garnering over 320 likes in two months. Three days later, the same X^[6] user announced that they had left the cult.

Numerous photos of people self-harming with references to Spawnism were posted online around this time and over the following months. Examples have been collected in the "Spawnism and why it’s a cult" Google Doc.^[7]

Chezble Exposed

In mid-July 2025, Spawnism garnered increased attention online as people continued to upload photos of themselves self-harming in the name of The Spawn. People began calling out a person who goes by Chezble for allegedly encouraging people to cut themselves for the sake of Spawnism. Chezble was also allegedly preying on members of the Spawnism Discord for sexually explicit content.

For example, on July 13th, 2025, X^[8] user @CHURCHOFDESPAWN posted a series of screenshots purportedly taken from the Discord showing Chezble encouraging a user to carve his name in their skin.

On July 16th, X^[9] user @Guest1337raper posted a screenshot allegedly showing Chezble encouraging a minor on Discord to take their clothes off on camera and hold up a piece of paper with the Spawnism symbol and their username.

On July 19th, 2025, X^[10] user @azvreliaa_ made a post claiming the police were called to Chezble's home, although this is unconfirmed.

On July 20th, X^[11] user @bx_on_x posted a video allegedly showing Chezble's dad exposing him for having diapers in his room, suggesting a diaper fetish, garnering over 86,000 likes in eight days.

On July 25th, 2025, X^[12] user @TheRoaringFraud posted screenshots of Chezble claiming that someone in the Discord took their own life, seemingly in the name of Spawnism, garnering around 60 likes in three days. The validity of the claim is unconfirmed.

Online Reactions

Spawnism inspired many reactions, memes and posts throughout July 2025 in response to people taking it seriously and self-harming because of it.

On July 7th, 2025, Redditor u/Tricky-Line6646 posted some memes to the /r/Roblox^[13] subreddit comparing healthy Spawnism fans vs. those who take it too far, garnering over 265 upvotes in three weeks.

On July 20th, TikToker^[14] @pupjirai made a post encouraging people to join Spawnism, garnering over 50,000 views in eight days.

On July 24th, 2025, X^[15] user @TheRBXCommunity posted a meme showing a Roblox player at a change my mind booth about Spawnism, garnering over 18,000 likes in four days.
